The New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association announced recently that it will take a major organizational step and divide the association into six regions. NJLCA officers and the board of directors unanimously agreed to the change which is in its early stages.
According to the association, the decision to move to a regional breakdown was made for two primary reasons. First, the setup will make it easier for the association to disseminate information in a timely manner as it relates to local and county laws in each region. Second, the new setup will allow members to more easily attend membership meetings within a reasonable amount of travel time.
The six new regions will be divided by county in the following manner:
| Region 1 | Region 2 | Region 3 | Region 4 | Region 5 | Region 6 |
| Bergen | Middlesex | Monmouth | Atlantic | Burlington | Hunterdon |
| Essex | Somerset | Ocean | Cape May | Camden | Morris |
| Hudson | Union | Cumberland | Gloucester | Sussex | |
| Mercer | Warren | ||||
| Salem |

Each region will conduct member meetings with its own set of officers and will conduct business following the state association’s by-laws. Each regional member will remain a state member and enjoy all associated benefits. All state members can attend any or all regional meetings.
Currently, the NJLCA board is actively seeking candidates for the regional vice president position in each region. The group hopes to have at least two candidates for each region. Once elected, each regional vice president will receive guidance, financial support and organizational procedures and complete assistance from the NJLCA executive director and the NJLCA state staff.
The state headquarters will remain in Elmwood Park, N.J. and Region 1 will conduct its meetings in that location. The organization says its ultimate goal is to have an annual state convention with members from throughout the state attending.
In conjunction with this aggressive, the NJLCA board also voted to expand its state headquarters to include a permanent training facility, meeting room, the annual Trade Show management and Certified Landscape Technician Exam. This will mark the first time that all aspects of the association will be under one roof, adding to the organization’s efficiency and ability to serve its members.
