Madison, N.C. contractor Douglas Dalton started his own lawn care company three years ago to supplement his income from working as a mill supervisor. Now, Dalton says he hopes that someday lawn care will be his full-time job. His company, Dalton's Landscaping & Lawn Care recently added fungicide applications to his list of services to help him reach that goal.
Dalton may be one step closer to meeting his growth goals after winning a case of Heritage fungicide from Syngenta Professional Products in the December Lawn & Landscape Online Sweepstakes.
Dalton provides basic lawn care services, including aeration, fertilization, seeding and now fungicide applications. He has two employees and says he would like to hire more if the business continues to grow.
Much of that growth could depend on the success of his fungicide program. “This is my first time getting into fungicide applications,” he says. “It’s something new that I’m doing to make some more money. I’ve talked to a few people who use the fungicide, and they say they like it.”
Dalton says he’s been consulting with friends who are also competitors in the business about fungicides as an add-on service. Based on the feedback he’s received, Dalton’s confident that customer satisfaction and profits will increase by offering this service, he says.
“What little problems we have now with fungus, we should be able to keep down now,” Dalton says.
