NTEA Welcomes More Companies to the Member Verification Program

Seventeen companies recently joined the program, which requires companies to perform specific minimum business processes and to take steps to comply to certain government regulations.

Seventeen additional National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) member companies have achieved Member Verification Program (MVP) status for the first quarter of 2008. This brings the total number of companies who have achieved MVP status to 363 since the program began in May of 2005.

The program recognizes members that have implemented specific minimum business processes and have taken steps to comply to certain government regulations. Modified program criteria will be effective beginning July 1, 2008.

“We congratulate these members who have demonstrated compliance to key quality standards and for building better relationships between distributors and manufacturers and between suppliers and their customers,” said NTEA Executive  Director Jim Carney. “With the introduction of updated criteria July 1 of 2008, we are raising the bar of the program to even higher standards which should impact the quality efforts of our members and industry even more.”

To qualify, NTEA distributor and manufacturer members must meet criteria that are key to providing quality products and vehicles. For example, vehicle upfitters must provide proof that they are attempting to comply with specific regulatory requirements necessary for the manufacture of trucks. Other criteria include adequate liability insurance coverage, a quality program and a new addition, demonstrating a safety program is in place.

Body and equipment manufacturers have similar requirements including having insurance coverage, a quality program in place, properly certified employees, and demonstration that a safety program is in place.
