Nufarm's Mark Phipps Dies From Cancer

After a 16-month battle with cancer, Mark Phipps passes away.

Burr Ridge, IL – Nufarm Americas sadly announces the passing of Mark Phipps on Saturday, March 25, 2006. Mark had valiantly battled pancreatic cancer for the past 16 months, but succumbed to the disease in the presence of his loved ones at his home in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. He was 46.

Mark had been the Northeast Regional Sales Manager for the past 6-1/2 years for the Turf & Specialty division of Nufarm Americas, Inc. of Burr Ridge, IL. Previously, he had worked for Moyer & Son of Souderton, PA in both sales and management capacities. Mark expanded his industry role as he became involved in many national associations and various legislative efforts during his career.

He was a lifelong resident of eastern Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in 1982. Mark was known as a passionate participant in local politics, community and church activities as well.

“Mark had a generous, giving spirit and cared deeply for his family, friends and work colleagues,” said Sean Casey, Nufarm’s Vice President of Sales, Turf  & Ornamental and one of Mark’s closest friends. “We will miss the warmth, character and enthusiasm he brought to everything he did and are extremely grateful for the time we were allowed to have him as a member of our Nufarm family.”

Born in West Chester, PA, he was the son of Carol G. Phipps of Sunset Beach, N.C. and the late William J. Phipps. In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Cathy; his son, Ryan, and his daughter, Emily; his sisters, Barbara Norris and her husband, Jeffrey, of Downingtown, PA and Joyce Dennett of Kennett Square, PA; three nieces and three nephews. A nephew also preceded him in death.

A memorial service for Phipps will be held on March 30th in Souderton, PA. The family requests that any contributions in his memory be made to the “John Hancock Freedom 529” c/o Seitz, Leatherman and Kolb, LLC, 595 Bethlehem Pike, Suite 204, Montgomeryville, PA 18936 for the Phipps children’s education fund.
