SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The New York State Turfgrass Association presented the Citation of Merit award to David Linehan at its Turf & Grounds Exposition in Syracuse, N.Y. Linehan was chosen to receive the Citation of Merit, NYSTA’s most prestigious award, because he has displayed professional commitment, personal integrity and has garnered the respect of his peers.
A member of NYSTA since 1982, Linehan has been responsible for legislative and regulatory reports monitoring bills and regulations pertaining to the green industry. His dedication and commitment to this task prove him to be a well-deserving recipient of this award. Linehan, a landscape designer with the Jim Girard Landscape Maintenance Corporation of Glens Falls, N.Y., also serves on the board as past chairman of the Empire State Council of Agricultural Organizations and the Northeastern New York Nursery/Landscape Association. Linehan is also a past recipient of the coveted New York State Nursery/Landscape Association Hall of Fame Award.
Linehan, a graduate of Syracuse University, has served for 15 years under
Mayor Robert Phinney as chairman of the planning board for the Village of
South Glens Falls. He is also a member of the South Glens Falls Economic Development Committee, the New York State Route Nine Corridor Committee and numerous other special projects related to the South Glens Falls Planning Board. He resides in South Glens Falls with his wife and two children.
