The New York State Turfgrass Association (NYSTA) recently held its 6th annual Collegiate Turf Bowl Competition at the Turf and Grounds Exposition in Rochester, N.Y.
Designed to test students’ knowledge of turfgrasses and the weeds, diseases, and insects that affect them, consisted of both hands-on and written tests.
Students from SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Delhi – two- and four-year programs – competed in the event. High-scoring teams and individuals were recognized with cash prizes, ribbons, a one-year student membership to NYSTA, Turf Bowl trophies and the honor of taking back to school the silver Turf Bowl.
SUNY Cobleskill won the two-year and the four-year team competitions. Members of the two-year team were Brett Seiler, Seth Markley, Rob McClary and Mike LoPresti, while the four-year team consisted of Greg Cormier, Ethan Henderson, Scott Hall and Dave Cotterill.
