Ohio Lawn Care Association Elects Officers and Trustees

The Ohio Lawn Care Association (OLCA) recently announced the election of Officers and Trustees to its 2008 Board of Directors. Officers serve a one-year term and Trustees serve three-year terms that began March 1. OLCA announced the following officers and trustees who will lead the association into the future:

President – Dave Hofacre, GrassMaster, Inc., Canal Fulton.  Hofacre graduated from OSU/ATI in 1975 with an Associates Degree in Turfgrass Science.  In 1981 he and an ATI classmate began GrassMaster, Inc., a full-service lawn care company serving northeastern Ohio.

Vice-President – Scott Huvler, TD Landscape, Mt. Vernon. Scott attended The Ohio State University.  Scott started working for the Turf Doctor Corporation in the summer of 1988 as a lawn care technician. He served as a General Manager of the Lawn Care Division until the fall of 2004, and then became General Manager of the Landscape Division at Turf Doctor. TD Landscape was established in 2006 where he is currently Vice President of Operations.

Secretary/Treasurer – Jeff Benton, St. Clair Lawn Care, St. Clairsville.  Benton has served on the Board of Directors since 2004. He graduated from The Ohio State University in Turfgrass Management and is very active in his community.

Immediate Past President – Dave Winter, Advanced Turf Solutions, Hilliard. Winter graduated from The Ohio State University in Turfgrass Management and has spent his last 15 years as a supplier for turf and horticultural products.

Two new trustees were elected to serve three-year terms that began March 1:

• Mark Barker, Oasis Lawn Care, Inc., Alliance, OH.   Mark attended the University of Akron, majoring in Business.  He was employed at Lawnmark from 1985 to 1991 as sales/service representative and branch manager.  He has been the owner/operator of Oasis Lawn Care, Inc. since 1991.  Mark has been a member of OLCA for several years as well as the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation. 
• Matt Ellis, GrassMaster, Inc., Canal Fulton, OH.  Matt has been employed at GrassMasters, Inc. for seven years.  He currently serves as Director of Sales & Marketing.

• Technical Advisor Joe Rimelspach, The Ohio State University, Columbus
• Executive Director, Kevin Thompson, Columbus
