Hamilton Township, Ohio has accepted a donation of 38 young ash trees from a landscaper, despite the potential threat of infestation by the emerald ash borer.
Thornton's Landscaping in Maineville decided to donate the healthy ash trees to the township rather than destroy them after the tree-killing beetle was discovered in Warren County in October.
The discovery has forced a county-wide quarantine on the tree. No one is allowed to transport them out of the county.
The trees will be planted in the township's dog park and other spacious areas away from structures. That way, if they do become infested, they will be easier to remove.
