Villa Park, IL - Oly-Ola Edgings donated 800 feet of Edg-King, their premium polyethylene landscape edging, to an Eagle Scout landscaping project at Davis Elementary School in Portland, Ore. Life Scout Adam Kauth from Troop 174 in Troutdale, Ore. used Oly-Ola Edgings' Edg-King for his Eagle Scout service project because it is a high quality landscape edging that is easy-to-install and maintain. "When I contacted Oly-Ola, they responded courteously and quickly, helped me figure out the best edging for the job and offered to donate the edging," Kauth said.
The landscape project included installing a path of crushed hazelnut shells 3 inches deep, about 400 feet long, and 3 feet wide between two doors of the Davis Elementary School library and around the garden. Kauth's goal for the project was to make the schoolyard more attractive and to give people a nice walkway through the garden. He also wanted to provide a shallow section for easy navigation so children in wheelchairs could also enjoy the yard.
Oly-Ola's Edg-King was installed to go around the entire path before the path was filled in and also to provide protection for the path from mud and weeds.
Sandi Hechler, president of Oly-Ola Edgings, was happy to donate the 800 feet of edging for this special project. "It is inspiring to see young people doing something good in their community and beautifying their surroundings."
