OPEI to Sponsor EPA Compliance Workshop at GIE+EXPO

Free workshop aims to assist manufacturers with compliance to the EPA's new emission regulations.

On Sept. 4, the U.S. EPA finalized a new emission control program to reduce
hydrocarbon emissions from small spark-ignition engines by about 35 percent. The new exhaust emissions standards will take effect in 2011 or 2012, depending on the size of the engine. The final rule also includes new standards to reduce evaporative emissions from these fuel systems beginning January 2009.

To assist manufacturers in compliance with the new regulations, OPEI is sponsoring an EPA Compliance Workshop at the 2008 Green Industry and Equipment Expo (GIE+EXPO) Oct. 23 in Louisville, Ky. This informative two-hour workshop will be led by the architect of the regulation from EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality, presenting the basic regulatory framework and timeline for all manufacturers of engines, equipment, fuel tanks and lines and other exhaust and evaporative emissions control technologies for the small off-road industry.

Workshop Date/Time: Thursday, Oct. 23, 3 to 5 p.m.

Location: GIE+EXPO, The Green Industry and Equipment Expo
Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (KFC), Louisville, Ky., Room: C203

Please Note: The EPA workshop is free and is located in the publicly accessible area outside the exposition hall entrance (no registration required to attend workshop, KFC does collect a parking fee).
