An Amherst, Mass., landscaping company was fined by the U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations following the death of a worker last year, the Associated Press reports.
Taylor Davis Landscaping, also known as Northeast Environmental Solutions, was cited in the November 15 death of Matthew Kosloski of Palmer, Mass., who got caught in the rotating parts of a mulching machine while on the job.
OSHA's investigation found that employees were allowed to clear jams while the machinery was operating. Safety regulations require that the machine has to be shut down and the power source secured.
Taylor Davis was fined $48,000.
