Bayer Environmental Science is paying special attention to the lawn and garden market. Refining its customer focus to better serve the differing needs of green industry customers, it is expanding and repositioning existing sales and marketing resources within Chipco Professional Products. The company announced this initiative Nov. 8 at the Green Industry Expo (GIE) in St. Louis, Mo.
“Our greatest asset is our people,” said Dan Carrothers, director of Chipco Professional Products, Montvale, N.J. “By concentrating on specific markets, our sales representatives will magnify their ability to listen to our customers and address turf and ornamental opportunities and issues.”
More sales representatives will focus on lawn and landscape, grounds maintenance and golf customers and a new national sales region with a sales manager is dedicated solely to this market. A key account manager will further support the company’s concentration on this market.
“The lawn care market segment represents a thriving industry with excellent growth potential,” Carrothers added. “By repositioning our sales representatives and overall marketing effort to focus on the specific needs of this industry, we will better serve our lawn and landscape and grounds maintenance customers.”
Earlier this year, the company created three specialized lawn and landscape sales representative positions. Business managers in the Bayer home office were assigned as market leads for either golf or lawn and landscape. Combined, these moves will allow the company to communicate effectively with its end users and ensure that it is providing effective products and business solutions, Carrothers noted at a press conference at the GIE show.
Position changes recently announced include: Neil Cleveland, regional sales manager; Jim Davis, northern sales manger – golf; Mike Daly, western region sales manager – golf; Marc McNulty, key accounts specialist.
