Perkins Engines Company Limited and its long-time small engine have announced plans to open a new small engines manufacturing facility in Griffin, Ga.
Perkins, a Caterpillar Inc. company and prominent manufacturer of off-highway diesel and gas engines, and Ishikawajima Shibaura Machinery Company Ltd (ISM) will begin production at the new site in summer 2004. The facility will house manufacturing operations of the Perkins 400 series, a range of 2-, 3- and 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, naturally respirated and turbo-charged indirect-injection engines.
“This plant further demonstrates our commitment to the small engine segment of the market,” commented Mike Baunton, president, Perkins Engines. “We launched the forerunner of the 400 series in 1987 and have been investing in and growing our business every year since then.”
