Personnel Announcements: Staff News from Around the Industry

Syngenta, RSC Equipment Renal and K-Enterprises announce staff additions.

SYNGENTA NAMES SALES REPRESENTATIVES

    Syngenta Professional Products made three personnel announcements recently, adding to the company’s sales staff.

    Fred Montgomery, a certified golf course superintendent, has joined Syngenta’s turf and ornamental team as a sales representative serving customers in New York. Prior to joining Syngenta, Montgomery served for 23 years as superintendent of Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady, N.Y. He is a past president of the Northeastern Golf Course Superintendents Association and served on the association’s board for 12 years, holding various positions, including employment chairman, tournament chairman and welfare chairman.

    Montgomery holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York and earned a turfgrass certificate from the University of Massachusetts. He became a certified golf-course superintendent in 1988. “I am very excited about the chance to work for the leader in our industry and look forward to providing my friends in the field with the support that they deserve,” Montgomery said.

    Also joining the turf and ornamental sales team is Steve Abler, who will serve customers in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Before joining Syngenta, Abler worked for several years in the academic field as a researcher and research assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Abler holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a master’s degree in plant pathology from Virginia Tech. He is a member of the American Phytopathological Society, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Northern Great Lakes Golf Course Superintendents Association, Wisconsin Golf Course Superintendents Association. He serves as advisor to the Wisconsin Turfgrass Association.

    “We are excited to have Steve join us as a sales representative,” said David Louder, Midwest district manager for turf and ornamental, Syngenta Professional Products. “His research background and scientific knowledge will serve our customers well. Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula are an important area for Syngenta, and having a capable representative such as Steve dedicated to the area will allow us to better serve our customers’ needs. ”

    Dennis DeSanctis also will serve Syngenta’s turf and ornamental customers, focusing on Fairfiled County, Conn. and Westchester County and Long Island, N.Y. Prior to joining Syngenta, DeSanctis worked for three years as a technical sales representative for the Terre Co. of New Jersey. He also has worked at New Jersey golf courses, including Knob Hill Golf Club and Metedeconk National Golf Club.

    DeSanctis holds a bachelor’s degree in turfgrass science from Rutgers University and is completing an MBA from Rutgers. “I am honored and excited to be joining Syngenta, and look forward to serving our loyal customers in my region,” he said. “I strive to be a valuable partner in my customers’ efforts to shepherd and grow their business.”

EXPERIENCED INDUSTRY EXECUTIVES JOIN RSC EQUIPMENT RENTAL. RSC Equipment Rental has appointed two executives to new positions as regional vice presidents for the company’s southern and Great Lakes regions.

Brent Kuchynka, currently regional vice president of RSC’s Canada Region, will be the new regional vice president for the southern region, which includes the Texas Gulf Coast area, Louisiana and Mississippi. Jon Wacker, a district manager for RSC in Tampa, Fla., is the new regional vice president for the Great Lakes Region. His new region includes Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Western Ohio, and most of Kentucky and Tennessee.

“Both Brent and Jon bring a tremendous amount of industry knowledge, management expertise, and proven success to their new positions,” said Tom Zorn, president and chief executive officer of RSC Equipment Rental. “They are in very important regions and will play key roles in helping us achieve our vision of becoming and remaining ‘First in Mind – First in Choice.’ We are fortunate to have them on our team.”

For the past three years, Kuchynka has led RSC’s operations in Canada and successfully shifted the region’s focus to emphasize large industrial accounts in order to offset the significant winter downturn in the construction industry. Kuchynka joined RSC as part of the company’s acquisition of Arizona-based Valley Rentals in 1996. He held a range of positions before assuming his position in Canada in 2002.

Wacker has been with RSC since 1996 and has held a range of positions, including general manager, area manager, district sales manager and district operations manager. Prior to joining RSC, he owned and operated an equipment rental and sales business.

K-ENTERPRISES NAMES CONTROLLER. K-Enterprises, parent company of K-Rain Mfg. Corp., has announced the appointment of Kenneth (K.C.) Tatje as Controller. Tatje will oversee the financial operations of all K-Enterprises business interests including K-Rain Mfg. Corp., K-Industries USA and Dominica, Archer Engineered Resins and C & S Industries Dominica.

Tatje joins K-Enterprises from Proctor, Crook & Crowder, CPAs. Tatje received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from University of North Florida and is completing his MBA at Florida Atlantic University. “K.C. is an experienced accounting and financial management professional,” says K-Enterprises Director of Sales and Marketing Bob Finnegan. “His expertise and experience make him well qualified to serve as K-Enterprises’ corporate Controller. We continue to build a great team here at K-Enterprises and K.C. is just one more block in our solid foundation.”

WRIGHT MFG. ADDS SALES & MARKETING MANAGER. Ken Loder has joined Wright Mfg.as regional sales and marketing manager. From his office in Hamilton, New Jersey, Loder will serve distributors located throughout the Northeastern United States.

For the past four years, Loder was sales manager for Giant-Vac and, before that, was Northeast district sales manager for Simplicity Mfg. He also has commercial landscape and retail management experience.


 

BAYER ANNOUNCES STAFF CHANGES

    Bayer Environmental Science announced changes on its sales staff recently. John (J.T.) Turner recently returned to field sales as a lawn and landscape sales representative for the company, covering Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Kentucky. Previously, he was formulator account manager for Bayer.

    From 1997 to 2002, Turner was a turf, pest control and formulator sales representative for Bayer Garden and Professional Care, covering the northern Midwest. He also covered the Midwest as a manufacturer’s sales representative from 1980 through 1997, working for TUCO, Nor-Am and AgrEvo.

    Turner graduated from Purdue University in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy and a minor in turfgrass management.

    Also in personnel news from Bayer, Jason Kuhlemeier recently joined the marketing team for the company in Research Triangle Park, N.C., as a marketing specialist. He will coordinate regional and field sales communications, assist in programs management and work with the marketing team to facilitate strategic planning and execution.

    Most recently, Kuhlemeier was a golf field sales rep for Bayer, covering southern California, Arizona, New Mexico and Las Vegas. Before that, he worked for Aventis as a crop sales representative in Iowa for three years. He also covered Iowa as a sales rep for Rhone Poulenc for two years.

    A graduate of Illinois State University, Kuhlemeier holds a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness.
