PGMS President, Board Named

Gene Pouly, CGM, of Orrville, Ohio, was elected to head the society.

Gene Pouly, CGM of E.F. Pouly Company in Orrville, Ohio was elected and installed as the new president of the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) during the Society's annual business meeting held on Saturday, October 25 in conjunction with the 2008 School of Grounds Management and GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Ky.

The 87th grounds management professional to hold the office, Pouly succeeds Greg Nichols as the chief elected officer of the 97-year-old green industry organization.

In addition to Pouly, PGMS members elected Monica Higgins, CGM of Naples Beach Hotel & Golf in Naples, Fla. as their president-elect. Joseph Jackson, CGM of Duke University in Durham, N.C. was elected vice president and Donald Bottger, CGM of Viejas Casino Alpine, Calif. was elected as secretary/treasurer.

Dave Garza of The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. was elected as the South West Regional Director and Marion Bolick, CGM of Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, S.C. was elected as the South East Regional Director.
 
Continuing to serve on the PGMS Board are: Director-at-large Jock Robertson of Arlington, Va.; Director-at-large Kenneth A. Stanton, CGM of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.; Director-at-large Kevin Harvey, CGM of St. Augustine - St. John's County Airport Authority in St. Augustine, Fla..; North East Regional Director Mike Loftus, CGM of the University of Delaware in Newark, Del. North Central Regional Director Walter Bonvell of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio; South Central Regional Director John Burns of the University of Texas in Austin, Texas; North West Regional Director John Van Etten, CGM, of Scotia, N.Y.

Thomas C. Shaner, a Certified Association Executive continues to serve the Board as PGMS Executive Director.

PGMS leaders are already at work planning the 2009 School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO which will take place in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 28-31, 2009. Additional information on the Society is available at www.PGMS.org.
