VALDOSTA, Ga. – Patti Niewoehner has been named director of marketing services for Phoenix Environmental Care, a new entrant into the turf, nursery, ornamental and aquatic market. “Patti’s background makes her an outstanding choice to lead our company’s customer service, advertising and public relations programs,” says Owen Towne, President of Phoenix Environmental Care. “She has demonstrated strong skills in both media relations and product advertising. In addition, Patti has been active in the Turf & Ornamental Communicators Association (TOCA) for several years, so she is very familiar with this industry’s key media.” Niewoehner was formerly manager of marketing services and herbicide product manager for Griffin in Valdosta. Prior to that, she spent several years with Sandoz Crop Protection as a territory manager in North Carolina. Another new addition to the Phoenix team is Rick Grant who has been named director of business development for the company. “Rick has worked in sales, sales management and market development in the turf and ornamental industry for 16 years,” Towne says. “His understanding of the turf industry and his strong connections to both the distribution channels and the end-users of our products make Rick well-suited for this key position.” Before joining Phoenix Environmental Care, Grant also was with Griffin, where he was involved with sales and market development for the northeastern United States. Grant was also a regional manager for Terra Professional Products and a turf and ornamentals sales representative for Ciba-Geigy. Phoenix Environmental Care specializes in turf, nursery, ornamental and aquatic products, marketing a variety of materials to meet the needs of the Green and Aquatic Industries through unique, quality formulations. |
“We will market a variety of products to meet the needs of the green and aquatic industries through unique, quality formulations,” Towne says. “The company will have a high level of dedicated technical support to meet the needs of the end user and will continue to be actively involved in both industries. Of course, product stewardship will be a key focus of the new company.”
The initial turf, nursery and ornamental product line will include Vital® fungicide and proprietary Phoenix brands of chlorothalanil, propiconazole, glyphosate and bifenthrin.
The company will also offer a proprietary brand aquatic herbicide and algaecide as well as other significant aquatic products.
“We are excited about bringing value-added, post-patent products to the green and aquatic industries,” says Towne. “With most of the market’s leading products in the turf, nursery, ornamental and aquatic segment being post-patent, Phoenix’s entry into this market provides a real opportunity to supply products that are both technologically superior and provide real value to the end-user.”
Towne, who was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Turf & Ornamental Communicators Association (TOCA), says the green and aquatic industries can expect the same level of support from Phoenix Environmental Care that he has provided throughout his 15 years in the industry. “I am pleased to continue providing leadership within our industry through this exciting new company,” says Towne. “We will continue that same commitment to giving back to the industry by supporting organizations like TOCA, Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment, The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, the Agricultural Education & Research Fund, and the Aquatic Plant Management Society.
