Established in 1966, the ANLA Hall of Fame Award is given to an outstanding nursery and landscape industry professional whose business and community accomplishments serve as an example for others in the industry. The award is the highest honor the green industry can bestow upon one of its members. Pinney's election to the Hall of Fame is a testament of his commitment to education, service and leadership.
Pinney has demonstrated a strong commitment to education. Through his own pursuits, earning a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design and Business from his home state’s land grant university and an Master's degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Ohio State University; and also by educating countless others in both the industry and his community, giving talks to over 100 different groups.
In his community and state, Pinney has served on the Chamber of Commerce, its Utility Commission, the Rotary Club, the Masonic Order, his church’s board and Habitat for Humanity. His industry recognition includes serving as president of The International Plant Propagators Society, past president of The Horticultural Research Institute, The Wholesale Nursery Growers of America and ANLA during its 125th Anniversary Celebration.
Pinney’s personal career goal has been to guide his nursery, a fourth generation firm, profitably into the future with a strong financial base, where it can serve new and exciting markets with quality horticultural plants and services; to share this success with our employees and to pass a viable business on to future owners.
Pinney’s integrity has left its mark wherever he has served - in his business, his community, his family and the organizations he has been a part of. His own words best describe the impact he has had: “I believe in the worth and creativity of people. Above all, truth, honesty and integrity must prevail.”
