PLANET’S Student Event Features Recruiting and Internship Workshop

A workshop will be held March 27 during Student Career days in Atlanta, Ga.

Companies that want to learn more about recruiting young workers or creating an internship program will can do so at Professional Landcare Network’s 2008 Student Career Days. The event will feature an industry workshop with a panel comprised of industry representatives, student members, and educators.

SCD, hosted by North Metro Technical College in Atlanta, Ga., will be held March 27–30. The workshop, held on Thursday, March 27, will be followed by the Career Fair, where companies have an opportunity to use some of the information gleaned in the industry workshop to promote their companies, job openings, and internship programs. They’ll also have the chance to network with and interview candidates from the largest gathering of qualified green industry students. This three-day event draws more than 800 students enrolled in horticultural programs at two- and four-year colleges and universities across the country.

Opportunities still exist for landscape and lawn care companies to purchase booth space, which will include an adjacent interview area, at the Career Fair on Friday, March 28. Registration for a Career Fair booth is separate from all other SCD registration, and booths are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.

SCD, sponsored by STIHL, also features 26 competitive events designed to mentally and physically challenge students in a variety of areas. Each event has a lead sponsor who organizes the event, and multiple assistant sponsors and donors who assist the Lead Sponsor. Openings are still available for assistant sponsors and donors.
