HAYWARD, Calif. – Planter Technology, a manufacturer of commercial container irrigation systems and planter liners, has launched a business unit, Tournesol Siteworks, which is focused on producing lightweight site furnishings for rooftop decks, terraces, balconies and parking garages.
The Tournesol product line is a direct response to designer’s problems, says Chris Lyon, president of Tournesol Siteworks and Planter Technology.

“Because of our expertise in complex container irrigation issues, we are frequently asked to create custom planters for rooftop gardens,” Lyon says. “We’ve created Tournesol Siteworks to give landscape architects and designers a standardized product line to choose from that is sensitive to weight, durability and other roof-deck construction constraints.”
Tournesol’s first product introductions will be lightweight FRP fiberglass planters in a range of sizes and ash/trash receptacles.

These products are designed for heavy-duty exterior use, and they feature scratch-resistant, UV-stable finishes, manufactured to look and age like a heavier metal pot, Lyon says. “This manufacturing process enables us to save weight where loads are an issue,” he says, adding that Tournesol Siteworks planters are designed to accommodate Planter Technology’s line of reservoir-based container irrigation systems.
Tournesol Siteworks also can create custom site solutions.
