While already contributing 70 "green collar" jobs to the West Bloomfield, Mich., economy, Planterra Corp. is poised to bring additional jobs to the area over the long term when its new conservatory opens in fall 2009.
Planterra founder, Larry Pliska, CEO. Carol Pliska, and Planterra Principal, Shane Pliska helped break ground on the new 23,000-square-foot facility Thursday morning, and were joined by West Bloomfield Trustee Stuart Brickner, Oakland County Commissioner Marcia Gershenson, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and other community leaders.
"This is an important moment for West Bloomfield," said Trustee Brickner. "as we proceed to keep our promise to bring new commercial ventures - indeed, new life - into this community."
The $3 million facility will serve as a showcase for Planterra's core interior landscaping business, as well as offer the public a botanical garden experience.
