Peter Costich of Horticultural Materials Systems died unexpectedly on Sept. 25. Costich was a supporter and member of the board of directors of PlantFind, a division of Preferred Commerce. PlantFind says Costich was a giant in the horticultural industry, a great friend, a relentless supporter of PlantFind.com.
Preferred Commerce, and especially its Division of PlantFind.com, have experienced many setbacks and disappointments since the company’s inception. PlantFind President Michael Ferraro had a vision of what the Internet could mean to the horticultural industry and when Ferraro contacted his father with the idea, they to immediately got in touch with Costich to get his thoughts and to ask him to become involved.
Costich became actively involved in the new venture as a member of the board of directors and, more importantly, as a strong supporter of the company and its future plans of improving the manner in which the industry did business. With Costich’s help, PlantFind persevered through the falling economy in 2000, the tragedy of Sept. 11 in 2001, a worsened economy in 2002 and two hurricanes in 2004. The company says Costich was always there with his great knowledge of the industry, his contacts, his friendship and most of all his relentless support of PlantFind.
PlantFind, the Ferraro family and all who knew Costich offer their thoughts and prayers to Costich’s wife Mary and their family.
