BALTIMORE, Md. – Plants at Work (PAW) is in the national spotlight today as Director of Development Gary Mangum shares the benefits of foliage and flowering plants and other industry concerns with President Bush.
The 45-minute conversation took place at 1 p.m. Dec. 5 at a Baltimore Home Depot. Bush was interested in Mangum's message and invited him to share his thoughts and concerns in this widely televised segment.
Mangum says he hoped to discuss the benefits of plants and flowers with some of the major national media afterwards, as well.
The Plants at Work industry marketing program has achieved more than 86 million media impressions over the past three years. The group has a March 1, 2004, deadline to raise the $1 million needed to carry the PAW message for another three years.
Mangum says he hopes that "something positive" will come from his talk with Bush for the industry. "While on stage, I am primarily representing the nursery side of our business, however, I expect to also discuss the needs of every aspect of the plant industry," he says.
