On March 14, non-profit Project EverGreen will begin its 2007 lawn and landscape sponsorship of Habitat for Humanity in Fort Myers, Fla. Project EverGreen will donate the sod for the project, which will be installed at 3007 and 3009 74th Street West in Lehigh Acres, the morning of Wednesday, March 14. Board members for Project EverGreen will hold a press conference on location at 11:00 am to formally present the donation to the families and answer questions.

"Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity not only accomplishes our mission as an organization, it connects us with people who do not take green spaces for granted," said Den Gardner, executive director of Project EverGreen. "Landscaping truly makes a house a home, and Project EverGreen is so pleased to be able to welcome these families to their new houses."

In 2007, Project EverGreen is coordinating lawn and landscape donations for Habitat for Humanity homes in Hartford, Houston, Nashville and San Diego. Please go to www.projectevergreen.com for more information.

Minnesota Twins Community Fund Named Recipient of Project EverGreen's Stewardship Award for Efforts to Improve Green Spaces for Kids

In recognition of their tremendous work to improve green spaces for children, Project EverGreen is honoring the Minnesota Twins major league baseball club and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund with its 2006 Stewardship Award. The annual award is part of Project EverGreen's overall mission to raise awareness of the environmental, economic and lifestyle benefits of landscapes, and promote the significance of those who preserve and enhance green spaces at home, work and play.

Board members of Project EverGreen, will present the award to the Twins prior to their spring game on Thursday, March 15, at 12:45 p.m. at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Fla.

Since the inception of the Twins Community Fund Fields for Kids program in 1999, more than $1.1 million has been granted to improve 285 Upper Midwest, Southwest Florida and Latin American ball fields. In 2006 The Toro Company and Land O'Lakes, Inc., partnered with the Twins to co-sponsor the program.

"The Twins Community Fund is committed to enhancing baseball and softball experiences for kids - which pays dividends in other ways, as well - and the Fields for Kids program exemplifies that commitment," said Twins Community Fund Executive Director Kevin Smith.

"Studies show that green spaces are key to children's emotional and physical health," said Den Gardner, executive director of Project EverGreen. "The Fields for Kids program improves kids' lives one ball field at a time, and Project EverGreen would like to thank them for everything they are doing."

This is Project EverGreen's third annual Stewardship Award presentation.
