Recruiting Route: Mid-Am Career Center

Look for prospective employees at the Mid-America Horticultural Trade Show Student Career Center.

Need a fresh place to recruit new employees? Vocational and horticultural programs geared toward green industry hopefuls provide an excellent source of up-and-coming job candidates for landscape companies.

The Mid-America Horticultural Trade Show will open an opportunistic door for both students and companies at its Student Career Center, held concurrently with the trade show and conference January 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at Chicago's Navy Pier.

Designed for full-time students with interest in pursing horticulture careers, the career center will invite students more than 200 colleges, universities and trade/technical school with horticultural programs. More than 100 Midwestern companies are expected to participate in the event, conducting preliminary interviews for internships, summer jobs and full-time positions.

Last year, the career center drew more than 450 students from 36 schools, and the program will likely grow this year, following an expansion trend since its introduction.

For more information on attending or exhibiting at the career center, call the Mid-Am executive office at 847/526-2010 or visit the Web site at www.midam.org. Deadline for reserving a table is December 24.
