LEMONT, Ill. – The Illinois Professional Turf Conference (IPTC) will be held November 30-December 2, 2004 at the Pheasant Run MegaCenter in St. Charles, Ill. The IPTC offers turfgrass education, and it will feature a special presentation by Pat Hughes, voice of the Chicago Cubs.
Turfgrass education is provided to individuals and companies within the Green Industry at the IPTC. The educational focus for this year’s IPTC features topics in plant science, business, construction and renovation as well as technical sessions on equipment usage and maintenance.
A feature of this year’s show will be pesticide license education and testing in both English and Spanish, and it will be conducted with the cooperation of the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Educational credits for affiliated industry certification programs will be available where applicable.
Along with education is a Trade Show that will bring together nearly 100 vendors eager to provide solutions to the Green Industry. Pat Hughes, the voice of the Chicago Cubs, will give a special presentation at this year’s IPTC Trade Show.
The IPTC (formerly the North Central Turfgrass Exposition) is under new management. The Illinois Turfgrass Foundation manages the IPTC, and proceeds are directed toward Turfgrass Research in the state of Illinois. Established in 1959, the Illinois Turfgrass Foundation (ITF) is a nonprofit group dedicated to supporting turfgrass research and education in Illinois. The ITF sponsors an annual conference, the Illinois Professional Turf Conference (IPTC); golf outings; turf short courses and other fund-raising activities. Funds derived are used to support basic and applied turf research at the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University, educational programs and undergraduate scholarships for turf students.
