Reopened Comment Period for Reregistration of MSMA, DSMA Closes Soon

Those who haven’t voiced thoughts about possible ban of MSMA and DSMA still have a chance.

The Environmental Protection Agency reopened the already twice-extended comment period about its decision not to reregister organic arsenical herbicides MSMA, DSMA, CAMA and cacodylic acid.

The EPA posted the reregistration eligibility decision for the herbicides in August (click here to read about it) and offered a 30-day comment period.

The EPA then issued notices in the Federal Register of Oct. 4, 2006 announcing the extension of the comment period by 30 days and of Oct. 27, 2006 announcing the extension of the comment period until Dec. 13. A week later, the document’s comment period was reopened for an additional 30 days, which will expire Jan. 19, 2007.

Comments, identified by docket identification number EPA- HQ-OPP-2006-0201 must be received on or before Jan. 19, 2007.
