Rex Lamb is CANGC's 2004 Supplier Tradesman of the Year.

CARSON, Calif. – Rex Lamb is not one to dwell on his accomplishments. In fact, when Lamb recently found out he had been named Supplier Tradesman of the Year by the California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers (CANGC), he kept the good news to himself for a couple weeks before telling his co-workers at Kellogg Garden Products.

“He’s very humble and modest about himself,” says Todd Slinde, Rex’s supervisor and district manager for Kellogg Garden Products’ Central Valley, San Francisco and Sacramento territories. “Rex is more proud about what this award means for the company than to him personally.”

Lamb received the honor at an awards luncheon held Thursday, June 17 during the CANGC annual legislative meeting in Sacramento. The Supplier Tradesman of the Year award is presented annually to a salesperson who maintains professional standards and renders extraordinary and beneficial service to nursery customers.  Lamb is the ninth Kellogg territory manager, and the second from Northern California, to receive the prestigious award since it was first awarded n 1971. Kellogg has received this CANGC award more than any other company in the industry.

“Loyalty, dependability and perseverance are Rex’s strong qualities as a manager,” says Slinde. “He’s very effective at building strong relationships and taking care of his customers’ needs, which is why he is being recognized. Customers have told me that Rex is very dependable and that he looks out for them. When he says something is going to happen, it happens.”

Lamb, who has worked at Kellogg for eight years, also is an active member of the Yosemite chapter of the CANGC and serves on the organization’s board of directors.
