Ronstar Flo Herbicide Registered in California

The new formulation allows greater flexibility and ease of application on landscape beds and dormant turf.

Ronstar Flo herbicide is now registered for use in California, Bayer Environmental Science recently announced. A flowable product containing oxadiazon, Ronstar Flo is a new, easy-to-use formulation of Ronstar herbicide.

The product is registered for use on dormant golf course, park and athletic field turf, as well as on ornamentals and ground covers in residential and commercial properties. Ronstar Flo can be applied to both newly planted and established plants. Its use will be particularly beneficial in new, shallow-rooted landscape plantings.

Ronstar Flo provides pre-emergent control of cheeseweed, common groundsel, common purselane, lambsquarters, oxalis, pigweed, spurge, goosegrass, crabgrass, annual bluegrass and other tough turf and landscape weeds. The new formulation is registered for use on dormant established bermudagrass in California. Research trials conducted in multiple states on both university plots and golf courses during 2006 and 2007 showed the product performed well compared to other herbicide brands.

“The new formulation disperses easily in water and mixes in the spray tank better than the traditional WSP and other generic alternatives,” says Ben Cicora, business manager, herbicides, Bayer Environmental Science. “Because of its mode of action, Ronstar Flo will not harm turfgrass, ground cover or woody ornamental roots after application, making it a dependable and effective method of weed control.”

The product is available as an easy-handling, flowable formulation in a 3.17-pounds a.i. per gallon container packed in a 2x2.5 gallon case.
