YUMA, Ariz. - Gowan Company, Yuma, Ariz., and Margarita Internacional, Madeira, Portugal, have reached an agreement with Dow AgroSciences, Indianapolis, Ind., for the acquisition of Rubigan fungicide, active ingredient fenarimol, and Magister insecticide, active ingredient fenazaquin.
The purchase includes all assets, including registrations and trade names, of the Rubigan and Magister product lines. Gowan will market the products in the United States and Canada, Gowan de Mexico in Mexico, and Margarita Internacional outside of North America.
Rubigan is a broad-spectrum, locally systemic liquid fungicide for curative and preventive control of dollar spot and other key diseases on turfgrass and ornamentals. It is also popular for the control of Poa annua in overseeded warm-season turf.
Magister is a pesticide for the control of spider mites on ornamentals. Discovered in 1986, fenazaquin was first registered in 1993. It is now registered and sold in more than 25 countries, although it is not currently registered and sold in the United States.
