Scotts Elects Board Members, Predicts Earnings Increase

A recent meeting of the green industry supplier’s shareholders brought a few changes to The Scotts Company board of directors and some hopeful discussion about sales projections for the year.

MARYSVILLE, Ohio – The Scotts Company’s shareholders have elected four professionals to its board of directors.

The manufacturer and supplier of lawn care products welcomes Mark Baker and three incumbent members – Joseph Flannery, Katherine Littlefield and Patrick Norton – to the board.

All four of the new board members will serve until 2007.

Baker, 46, is president and chief executive officer of Gander Mountain Company, an outdoor retailer. He previously functioned as executive vice president of merchandising at The Home Depot. Baker replaces Al Harris, who retired after serving as a board member since 1997.

During the meeting, Chairman and CEO Jim Hagedorn told shareholders the Scotts Company’s prospects remain strong. He also reaffirmed the Company’s outlook that sales will increase 6 to 7 percent in fiscal 2004 and adjusted earnings – which exclude restructuring and other charges – will improve by at least 10 percent.
