MARYSVILLE, Ohio – The Scotts Company has been awarded the 2004 Environmental Technologies Award for the environmental benefits associated with the development of the Roundup FastAct Foam trigger-sprayer. The honor was presented by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), known for its support and promotion of environmental stewardship, as part of the recent annual Global Plastics Environmental Conference in Detroit.
Roundup FastAct is a ready-to-use weed and grass control that produces results within 24 hours. When the product is sprayed, it creates foam so the consumer can identify where it has been applied. As a result, the consumer is less likely to over apply the product.
“Applying controls in the proper dosage is a key principal to creating a beautiful lawn and garden while also respecting the environment,” said Christiane Schmenk, Scotts director of Environmental Stewardship. “The Roundup applicator is an example of Scotts’ commitment to innovative solutions, and to develop effective, environmentally friendly approaches to protect home environments. We are very proud that our efforts in this area are being recognized.”
The award was presented to Dr. Mustapha Abbaoui, project manager in research and development at Scotts. Abbaoui, in conjunction with a team of research and marketing professionals, developed the product reformulation and packaging design that led to the Roundup FastAct Foam trigger-sprayer technology.
