RIVERSIDE, N.J. – Sea Gull Lighting Products, Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of decorative and functional lighting products, was honored as ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) during ceremonies March 2, 2004, in Washington, D.C. The award recognized the company’s commitment to the development, distribution and sale of environmentally friendly lighting products that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.
“Partners like Sea Gull Lighting Products exemplify the success of ENERGY STAR,” said Kathleen Hogan, director of EPA’s Climate Protection Partnerships Division. “By offering the latest and greatest products that are also energy efficient the consumer wins and so does the environment. Sea Gull Lighting’s products shows that you really can have it all – features and energy savings.”
A charter member of the program since 1992, Sea Gull Lighting was selected for the award from thousands of organizations that currently promote ENERGY STAR products. These efforts were recognized during the ceremony by Spencer Abraham, the U.S. Secretary of Energy,
and James L. Connaughton, the Chairman White House Council on Environmental Quality and White House Office of Environmental Policy. The award was officially presented by Kathleen Hogan, director of the climate protection division at the EPA.
“Our entire organization has dedicated itself toward this effort” said Ace Rosenstein, vice president, Sea Gull Lighting. “For nearly a decade, we have developed and marketed energy efficient lighting for use in a wide range of decorative, functional, residential, commercial and architectural applications. We are proud to support the program and the environment with products that are 75 percent more efficient than traditional lighting products.”
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, American households can expect to lower their average annual $1,300 energy bills by 30 percent while reducing greenhouse gas emissions with the use of energy efficient products such as light bulbs and fixtures.
In 2002 alone, Americans with the help of Sea Gull Lighting and ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy to power 15 million homes and reduce air pollution equivalent to that of 15 million cars – all while saving consumers $7 billion. For example, the replacement of five frequently used lighting fixtures with Sea Gull Lighting ENERGY STAR alternatives alone can save approximately $60 a year in energy costs.
