Chuck and Judy Sweeney who founded Seago, the U.S. distributor for Allen Power Equipment, more than 20 years ago have retired and their youngest son Scott has purchased the business. Scott, a retired Air Force officer, joined Seago four years ago after earning a MBA and spending eight years in the marine publishing business. Scott became president two years ago and has been in charge of the day-to-day operations since.
“Working together with my parents has been a great experience. My father and mother built a great business and I hope I can expand on the strong foundation,” said Scott. “My Dad has been in the turf business for more than 30 years and I learned a tremendous amount from watching and listening to him with customers and dealers.”

Chuck and Judy will split their time between upstate New York and Florida.
Scott told Lawn & Landscape magazine he's looking forward to new opportunities that will take Seago beyond its traditional golf market positioning. "One of the main things we’re doing is expending our product line to include more products that have uses beyond the golf market," he said. "Our primary focus for the first 16 to 18 years of the company has been on the golf market with the primary product being the Allen Hover Mower. As we expand product line, we're looking to raise awareness of what our products can do from a time saving standpoint for end users in the lawn and landscape market as well as golf."
Scott added that while Seago's product line will expand, the company will not move into the traditional lawn mower market. "We’re in the walk-behind equipment business and we don't expect that to change," he says "The ride-on equipment market is crowded with excellent products and we intend to stay focused on what we know best, which is the Hover Mower. We know its capabilities, we stand by it, and we look forward to bringing it to new dealers as we move forward."
