Simplot Purchases Fertilizer Formulator

The newly acquired production facilities, located on the Mississippi River, provide Simplot T&H efficient inter-modal distribution to service a large segment east of the Rocky Mountains. Lange® fertilizers will be added to the Simplot T&H product line including BEST® and APEX® fertilizers and Jacklin Seed. The Lange brand products include a full line of pre-emergent, greens-grade and fairway fertilizers.

Bill Whitacre, president of Simplot Turf & Horticulture, described the deal as an important step in the company’s expansion. "We’re committed to bringing our products and service to the national market," he said. "Our fertilizer products have been very successful in the western U.S. and the Pacific Rim, and the addition of Lange-Stegmann’s formulation capabilities and quality products will bolster our national infrastructure and further our strategic goals."

The agreement calls for Lange-Stegmann Vice President Mike Stegmann to remain in his current capacity and oversee the transition for an indefinite period of time.

Lange-Stegmann has been a supplier of agricultural and turf care products for farmers, professionals and homemakers for nearly 70 years. The company’s line includes bulk and bagged agricultural fertilizer, consumer lawn and garden fertilizer and golf course and lawn care products.

Simplot Turf & Horticulture includes Jacklin Seed®, Medalist America® (now part of Jacklin Seed brand), JacklinGolf®, BEST® and APEX® professional fertilizers.
