The Sports Turf Managers Association has appointed Kim Heck as its executive director, effective Sept. 1.
Heck will manage the association from its new office in Lawrence, Kan. where she lives. Heck comes to the STMA from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America where she served as director of brand strategy and market research.
As executive director Heck plans to strengthen membership by providing highly valued services, she says.
"STMA's long-standing vision has always been to have its own executive director and staff," says Bob Campbell, STMA president. "That time is now, and our board feels that Kim can help lead us to the next level of growth for our membership and visibility for our profession."
Heck's first position with the GCSAA was as the director of career development in which she helped develop resources that assist golf course superintendents with their personal career development, including interviewing techniques and negotiating skills.
