Sunseeker debuts S4 robotic lawn mower

Sunseeker has launched the Sunseeker S4, a robotic lawn mower designed to bring fully wire-free installation, intelligent 3D mapping, and advanced obstacle avoidance to modern residential lawns.

Engineered for yards up to 0.25 acres, the Sunseeker S4 combines 3D LiDAR with an AI-assisted monocular camera, enabling the mower to perceive complex outdoor environments, create accurate virtual maps and mow efficiently without the need for boundary wires or RTK antennas.

The Sunseeker S4 uses LiDAR-SLAM and visual SLAM (VSLAM) technology to automatically map lawn boundaries. Users simply connect the mower to Wi-Fi, place it on the lawn, and start mapping through the Sunseeker app.

The S4 can complete automatic 3D mapping of a lawn up to 1,000 square meters in as little as one hour, significantly reducing setup time while maintaining centimeter-level positioning accuracy.

At the core of the Sunseeker S4 is the AllSense 3D Fusion Sensing System, which processes over 200,000 LiDAR point clouds per second and combines them with AI camera data for a comprehensive understanding of the yard environment.

With a 360-degree horizontal and 70-degree vertical field of view, the S4 can identify and avoid over 360 types of obstacles, including garden furniture, toys, pets and people. A built-in bumper provides an additional safety layer when visual detection is limited.

The Sunseeker S4 features Sunseeker’s patented floating cutting system, which automatically adjusts to variations in terrain to deliver consistent cutting results. With a cutting height range of 1.6 to 3.2 inches and a 7-inch cutting width, the mower produces clean, uniform results without damaging turf.

Intelligent path planning replaces random mowing patterns with systematic striping, improving coverage efficiency. Other features include:

• 42% (22°) slope capability with dual-wheel rear drive
• Edge-to-edge cutting modes for cleaner lawn borders
• Low-noise operation below 60 dB(A) for quiet daytime or evening mowing
• IPX6 waterproof design, suitable for rain and easy cleaning
• Automatic recharge & resume, rain detection, and OTA firmware updates
  

Using the Sunseeker app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, users can manage schedules, adjust mowing settings, monitor progress, define zones, and receive alerts. Security features such as PIN protection and lift alerts help prevent unauthorized use.
