Syngenta Professional Products announced that Douglas Rider joined its lawn & garden team as a territory manager. Rider’s territory will be southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and the eastern shore of Maryland.
Before joining Syngenta, Rider was the golf course superintendent at Brandywine Country Club in Wilmington, Del. He was responsible for a $1.8 million course renovation and was credited with reducing repair and maintenance costs, while improving efficiencies with his staff.
Rider, of Wayne, Pa., holds a bachelor’s degree in turfgrass science from Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Philadelphia Association of Golf Course Superintendents, Eastern Shore Association of Golf Course Superintendents, Maryland Turfgrass Council and the Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council.
"Being a former superintendent, Doug Rider brings a deep understanding of the intricacies of maintaining a golf course to his position with Syngenta," said Dave Ravel, turf-market lead for Syngenta Lawn & Garden. "His experience will be a great benefit to our customers as he helps them diagnose problems and recommend product solutions to fit their needs."
