Registrations are now being taken for the Professional Lawn Care Association of America’s (PLCAA) 15th Annual Legislative Day on the Hill, July 19-20 in Washington, D.C. Volunteers are also needed for PLCAA’s “Renewal & Remembrance” cemetery project held in conjunction with Legislative Day on July 19. The event is free and open to all lawn and landscape professionals.
Legislative Day 2004 provides professionals with an opportunity to unify and take a stand on Capitol Hill, presenting issues to legislators prepared by PLCAA. Issues will be NTEP funding, H-2B, 21st Century Water Commission legislation (H.R. 135), and Association Health Care programs. Attendees receive an issues briefing before their Hill visits, and first-timers get special attention and assistance from long-time attendees.
The day before the Hill visits, attendees are invited to volunteer their skills and/or equipment for the “Renewal & Remembrance” project at Arlington National Cemetery and Old Congressional Cemetery. The national community service project gives participants a chance to honor America’s veterans and leaders, as well as provides positive recognition to their businesses and the industry.
“PLCAA’s Legislative Day and Cemetery Project are opportunities for lawn and landscape companies looking to secure their business futures and volunteer for a good cause,” says Gary Clayton, PLCAA’s executive vice president. “We need as many participants as possible - there is strength in numbers, and a good showing in Washington by our industry could make a difference in legislation and public perception at home and in D.C.”
