Armyworms are attacking lawns throughout the Northeastern United States. The invasion of these “stripped” worms has resulted in lawns being literally mowed down. For more information on the common armyworm see:

In the southeastern United States brown patch (Rhizoctonia solani) is active on tall fescue turfs. This disease has the potential to cause serious damage to the turf. For more information on brown patch and its control on tall fescue see:

Sycamore trees appear to be shedding bark. This is not uncommon for this species. In many areas where excessive bark shedding is occurring it appears these areas have had periods of high wind.
