Sycamore defoliation, twig dieback and canker formation from sycamore anthracnose are apparent this time of the year. This disease does most of its damage during the spring, but summertime stress often accentuates the symptoms.

Bluegrass billbug damage is appearing on Kentucky bluegrass lawns in the midsection of the United States. Bluegrass billbug damage is often difficult to diagnose because it often looks similar to drought stress. If a lawn fails to “green up” following rain showers, check for billbug damage. If plants are easily “pulled up” from the turf by grasping the shoots, this is a good sign of billbug damage. Billbugs chew the shoots of the plant off at the crown.
