Creeping bluegrass is a "new" turfgrass species that was first advertised in 1999. Confusion exists on what exactly creeping bluegrass is. Creeping bluegrass is the common name given to the perennial creeping (stolons) type of annual bluegrass (Poa annua var. reptans). Annual bluegrass, which has been the common name for all annual bluegrass biotypes, remains the common name for the annual bunch-type biotypes (Poa annua).
