BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – Profile Products has announced that video footage of independent testing on Profile’s new Terra-Tubes Fiber Filtration Tubes is now available online through Profile’s Web site.  The test recently took place at the Stormwater Lab in Ankeny, Iowa.  Terra-Tubes are engineered sediment control devices, which are proven to outperform common fiber rolls and wattles.  The four-minute video demonstrating Terra-Tubes’ superior sediment retention and turbidity reduction is available on Profile’s Web site, www.terratubes.com under “Technical Notes.”

The video illustrates the process of installing Profile’s Terra-Tubes and documents the accuracy of the testing.  Modeled in “real world” runoff conditions, results showed that for a 10-year, six-hour design event, Terra-Tubes lost only 211 pounds of sediment per acre inch of water runoff versus its closest competitor, which lost 3,227 pounds in the same event.  Tests also showed Terra-Tubes were 98 percent effective in reducing sediment runoff.

Terra-Tubes are engineered composites of wood fibers, man-made fibers and performance-enhancing polymers that are encased in heavy-duty knitted tubes. Their function is to control sediment loss and treat storm water through three primary functions, including flow, filtration and flocculation

The video may be downloaded from Profile’s Web site or may be requested from Profile on a CD.
