As a company Christmas project this year, Moore Lawn & Garden and Moore Tree Care employees organized a much-needed food drive to help the less fortunate of Dallas.
Spearheaded by Brenda Scott, Garden Manager for Moore Lawn & Garden, the Moore team collected and distributed food as part of their observation of the holidays, “The economic downturn has affected many individuals and we wanted to assist those families in our area.” Bags were delivered beginning December 8 to every client with a letter that explained the food drive and that Moore would pick up the donations when the regular crew came by on the scheduled maintenance day.
From Dec. 15-Dec. 19, more than 950 pounds of non-perishable items such as canned meats, soups, cereals, instant breakfasts, rice and pasta - equaling 850 meals - was collected from “our very generous clients and employees,” said Ken Fischer, director of Moore Lawn & Garden.
After gathering all donations, employees from Moore delivered the items to a most-appreciative North Texas Food Bank. Moore Lawn & Garden and Moore Tree Care were saluted by the food bank staff because 2008 created even more demand due to the economic downturn.
Moore Lawn & Garden and Moore Tree Care have been serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex since 1962 and today are a division of Lambert Landscape Company.
