Textron Donates $750,000 to Tsunami Relief

Providence, RI – Textron, parent company of Jacobsen, Ransomes, Ryan and other green-industry equipment brands, announced earlier this month that it will donate up to $750,000 to assist with relief efforts in the Southeast Asian and African countries affected by the recent devastation and aftermath caused by the Dec. 26th earthquake and related tsunamis. The donation includes an initial company contribution of $250,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund's tsunami relief efforts, in addition to a $250,000 grant for a dollar-for-dollar match of employee contributions to the organization.

“On behalf of Textron employees worldwide, our heartfelt sympathies go out to all who have been affected by this devastating tragedy,” said Lewis Campbell, Textron chairman, chief executive officer and president. “Our employees have a long history of mobilizing to support their communities during times of crisis. As part of the global community, our greatest hope is that this contribution may touch the lives of those in need.”

This effort accompanies a variety of local efforts initiated by Textron businesses and facilities worldwide in support of tsunami relief in affected regions.
