Textron Names New President of Jacobsen

Daniel Wilkinson will be the new head for the turf maintenance equipment manufacturer. Also, Textron donates to hurricane relief effort.

Fla

SEATTLE, Wash. – Textron has named a new president of its Jacobsen division. Daniel Wilkinson will take the reigns of the golf commercial grounds care manufacturer on Oct. 10, 2005 and will report to Textron Industrial Segment President Barclay Olson. Wilkinson replaces Jon Carlson, who left Jacobsen to pursue other opportunities.

Wilkinson joined Textron in 1997 as director of national sales accounts at Greenlee, Textron's professional tools business, where he was responsible for large customers such as The Home Depot, Grainger and Graybar. He worked his way up in the organization to his current role of senior vice president of marketing and sales, where he was responsible for product development, managing the Greenlee brand, as well as developing the business's long-term strategy.

"We're extremely fortunate to have proven leaders like Dan on board," Olson said. "He is a highly talented executive who has the experience and knowledge to lead Jacobsen into the future."

Before joining Textron, Wilkinson worked at General Electric for 17 years. During his tenure at GE Lighting, he held various positions with increasing responsibility in areas such as distribution planning, marketing and sales.

”Not only is Dan a strong leader, his core strengths of strategy development, multiple channel/multiple step distribution management, product development and rationalization, as well as brand management are exactly what Jacobsen needs," Olson added.

Wilkinson holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Carroll College. He and his family will relocate to Charlotte, N.C. where Jacobsen is headquartered. Jacobsen manufactures a full range of vehicles and turf maintenance equipment for golf, turf, professional lawn care, sports fields, municipal and industrial applications. The company markets Bob-Cat, Brouwer, Bunton, Cushman, Jacobsen, Ryan and Steiner brand products internationally through an extensive distribution network. Jacobsen is a Textron company.

TEXTRON PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS

    Fla

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Textron has provided a variety of its products, equipment and personnel from across its businesses for assessment and recovery efforts in the Gulf Coast Region and in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) relief activities. In addition, the company and its employees have pledged up to $1.25 million for employee and humanitarian aid to those affected by Hurricane Katrina, including a $250,000 grant for a dollar-to-dollar match of employee contributions.

The company's financial contribution will primarily support the Textron Targeted Relief: Employee-to-Employee Help Fund, to aid the 1,150 affected Textron Systems employees who work at facilities in the Gulf Coast region. One hundred percent of donations to the Fund will go to help fellow employees and their families. Textron's contribution will also support three additional charities: the Alabama Governor's Emergency Relief Fund, the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation, and the Mississippi Hurricane Fund.

"First and foremost, we will not rest until we are certain that each and every one of our affected employees and their families are safe and accounted for," said Lewis Campbell, Textron chairman, president and chief executive officer. "I am overwhelmed, but not surprised, by the outpouring of support from our employees around the world – not only financially, but with our equipment and through our multi-industry technical expertise. Textron employees truly exemplify the human spirit that unites us all in times of need and challenge."

Textron's Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) from Textron Marine & Land – designed and manufactured out of the company's East New Orleans shipyard facility and used by the United States Navy – has been deployed to deliver relief supplies on board the USS Bataan, operating in the Gulf Coast Region.

In addition, Bell Helicopter voluntarily responded to FEMA's need for helicopter support by sending 8 helicopters, 11 pilots and 6 ground support personnel to aid in critical disaster relief efforts in the Gulf Coast areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Cessna Aircraft Co. has also donated transport services for medical personnel into the affected regions.

Textron has established an Employee Assistance Hotline for Textron Systems employees affected by the hurricane to contact the company. The hotline is available from 5 a.m. (Central) to 9 p.m. (Central) at 1-800-313-3703. Employees can also e-mail the company at tmlstat@systems.textron.com with their contact information. It is important not only that employees are accounted for, but also that they can continue to receive a pay continuance until further notice.
