The Care of Trees Makes 2005 ‘Companies That Care’ Honor Roll

The company was recognized for more than its ability to care for trees, but also for meeting the needs of its employees and the communities it serves.

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Center for Companies That Care (CTC) recently announced its 2005 Honor Roll, which includes The Care of Trees as one of 17 organizations named. Honor Roll recipients are located throughout the country and are selected for “their deep commitment to elevating the quality of the work environment for their employees and the quality of life for people in the broader community as adhering to the 10 characteristics inherent to a ‘Company That Cares.’”

The Honor Roll is selected by an independent panel of veteran professionals in a variety of industries. Each of the organizations named to the Honor Roll sustains a work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees, develops great leaders, communicates standards of ethics and integrity and participates in initiatives that support the community, among other outstanding attributes.

10 CHARACTERISTICS OF COMPANIES THAT CARE

According for the Center for Companies That Care, caring companies prize employees and are committed to community service. To sustain these values, Companies That Care consistently demonstrate the following 10 Characteristics in their work environment. These 10 Characteristics define the standard for all organizations desiring to be recognized as caring, responsible organizations.

    3. Cultivate the full potential of all employees
    4. Encourage individual pursuit of work/life balance
    5. Enable the well-being of individuals and their families through compensation, benefits, policies and practices
    6. Develop great bosses who excel at managing people as well as results
    7. Appreciate and recognize the contributions of people who work there
    8. Establish and communicate standards for ethical behavior and integrity
    9. Get involved in community endeavors and/or public policy

“Being named to the Honor Roll is quite an accomplishment today because it requires adhering to not just a few, but to all of the 10 characteristics of caring companies,” says Marci Koblenz, cofounder and president of CTC. “While we, indeed, applaud this year’s recipients, we are pleased that many more companies are on the journey toward being a Company That Cares. We look forward to the Honor Roll continuing to grow over the years as more companies consistently practice the 10 Characteristics.”

“We are honored to be named to this prestigious roster,” says Scott Jamieson, president and chief executive officer with The Care of Trees. “Given today’s business climate, this award is particularly important to us. Our company prides itself on working extremely hard to practice the 10 Characteristics. It’s wonderful to be rewarded for our efforts.”
