The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) operates 114 national cemeteries covering more than 10,000 acres of land where more than 2 million Americans are buried. In addition to providing a gravesite, VA provides a headstone or marker and cares for the grave at no cost to the veteran's family or heirs.
You have the opportunity to participate in the Ohio Lawn Care Association's annual community service program which offers its services to the national cemetery system and acknowledges the sacrifice of America's veterans. Plan now to join us for "A Grateful Embrace 2008." Volunteers, fertilizer spreaders, application equipment and blowers are needed to beautify the 100+ acres at Dayton National Cemetery and VA Medical Center. Further work will take place in the same day at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in Dayton.
