Tree Care Industry EXPO Brings Top Talent to Milwaukee

Student competitions and Career Days showcase tree knowledge and speed.

The 12th Annual Student Career Days, held during Tree Care Industry (TCI) EXPO 2008, features "tree detectives” who conduct investigations into tree ailments, as well as an in-tree skills competition designed to test work ability, speed, and safety knowledge.

The event, to be held Nov. 14 from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in Mitchell Park, Milwaukee, Wis., is geared toward students enrolled in arboriculture, forestry and related programs in two- and four-year collegiate and vocational training programs compete in the free events.

Mark Chisholm – third generation arborist, two-time world champion of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Tree Climbing Championship,16-time champion of the ISA New Jersey Chapter's state championship, and world record holder in the secured footlock event – will also be in attendance at the TCI EXPO.

Events include safety and gear check, work climb, throw line, belayed scramble.

TCI Student Career Days and Skills Competitions are an opportunity for students to get a real experience in the field they study. The trade show floor becomes an off-site classroom where students learn about the latest products, equipment, and advances in the industry. Students are invited to attend complimentary educational seminars and workshops and Student Career Days events also include multiple opportunities for students to meet and greet with potential employers.
