A landscape contractor was hospitalized after being pinned by a large tree he was hired to remove outside a business in Billigs, Mont., officials said.
Robin Dangerfield, owner of the Lawn Ranger, was hit and pinned by a Ponderosa pine estimated at between 15 and 20 feet long, Billings Fire Capt. Ed Regele said.
Dangerfield's crew told firefirefighters the tree did not fall as planned. Dangerfield tried to push it off course when it began falling toward an occupied car, Regele said.
"I don't know if the wind was involved or what," he said.
The car was damaged, but no one else was injured.
Co-workers freed Dangerfield, and an ambulance crew took him to the hospital.
He was in good condition later that night, a hospital representative said.
