A truck plowed into a landscaping trailer in Surprise, Ariz., on Thursday, leaving one landscape contractor in serious condition and another injured, police said.
A Surprise police spokesman, Sgt. Mark Ortega, said the truck's driver, Derek Wieland, failed to notice a parked landscaping truck and trailer. No one was inside the landscaping vehicles, but two workers trimming trees were standing next to them.
Both workers, identified as Jesus Feregrino and Miguel Hernandez, were hurt as a result of the crash, Ortega said. Feregrino, 64, was flown to a hospital with serious leg injuries, while Hernandez, 41, and the truck driver were transported by ambulance.
It was unclear who was at fault, Ortega said, but investigators were checking on whether safety cones had been put in place before the incident.
